Seven Programs under the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners Recognized with Nation Achievement Awards
Hamilton County, OH – Seven Hamilton County Programs and Initiatives have been recognized with a 2024 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.
Each year, NACo's Achievement Awards recognize outstanding programming in 18 categories aligned with the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. The categories include children and youth, criminal justice and public safety, libraries, management, information technology, health, civic engagement and more. Launched in 1970, the program is designed to celebrate innovation in county government. Hamilton County has received recognition in the following categories:
For "Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation"
The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame: The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame is a free, state-of-the-art, outdoor, interactive, tourism attraction located along the Ohio Riverbanks which celebrates the legacy and untold stories of music artists, songwriters, producers, and musicians from Southwest Ohio who have impacted music from across the world.
For "Criminal Justice and Public Safety"
Hamilton County Quick Response Team's Holistic Outreach for Priority People (HOPP) Program: The Quick Response Team's Holistic Outreach for Priority People (HOPP) represents a groundbreaking collaborative effort to provide holistic support to individuals affected by substance use disorders, mental health disorders, co-occurring conditions, or homelessness.
For "Children and Youth"
Beyond Your Imagination: Beyond Your Imagination (BYI) is a Hamilton County program that makes sure teens in foster care have access to the same cultural opportunities as other kids. It provides the kids with tickets to the zoo, museums, concerts and much more.
INSPIRE Youth Initiative: Hamilton County's INSPIRE Youth Initiative provides grants of up to $5,000 to grass-roots organizations, neighborhood groups, churches, non-profits, and youth agencies.
Kindness for Kids: The Hamilton County Job and Family Services "Kindness for Kids" is a community donation program for kids in Hamilton County's Foster Care system. Designed to provide gifts to kids on holidays, help during periods of transition, and gifts for special moments and achievements, like graduation.
For "Human Services"
'Installing' Menstrual Equity in Hamilton County: Addressing gender inequity and period poverty through the installation of no-cost period product dispensers in Hamilton County owned buildings.
The 513Relief Bus: The 513Relief Bus delivers economic, health, mental health and other services directly to Hamilton County residents in a revolutionary way. Consolidating County Services into one mobile unit that travels across the County to over 100 stops each year.
The Hamilton County Recorder's Office also received an Achievement Award for Human Services for their Veteran's Outreach Program.
