Board of Revision (BOR)

 

Purpose:

The Board of Revision is set up by state law to hear complaints on property values. The Auditor's office provides the support staffing for scheduling, resolving and clerical requirements of the Board.

Establishing Authority:

There shall be a board in each county, known as the county Board of Revision, which shall hear complaints and revise assessments of real property for taxation (see Section 5715 of the Ohio Revised Code).

Composition:

The Board of Revision shall consist of the County Auditor, County Treasurer, and President of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) or their statutorily appointed designee, who must be an employee of the appointing official's office (ORC 5715.02).

Terms:

Each member shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year, commencing the first day of January.
